Lakes Jam & The Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals
Brainerd International Raceway is the home of Lakes Jam.
When Lakes Jam isn’t blowing the doors off the raceway, BIR hosts drag racing,
streetcar showdowns, road courses and more!
This summer, August 15-18, BIR will be hosting the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals. This will be an experience unlike anything else, featuring the
world’s best drag racers and the fastest cars! BIR is a world-renowned track
and the fastest drag strip in the country!
Gates open August 12 for Superweek campers and tickets are
available now. Every ticket comes with a pit pass. Watch teams tear down their
racecars and build them back up. See some of the biggest names in racing such
as John Force, Tony Schumacher, Larry Dixon, Ron Capps and more. Take a stroll
down Nitro Alley midway and see interactive displays, simulated competitions,
and don’t forget to stop by and say hi to the Lakes Jam staff!

Music Festival Tips
The wait is almost over! Lakes Jam is less than 2 weeks away! Bands include REO Speedwagon, Night Ranger, Great White, The Kentucky Headhunters, Rocket Club, ThundHER Struck, Gwen Sebastian, Sena Ehrhardt, and King's Ransom. The time to start planning is now! This is the first annual Lakes Jam. This will be a new experience for everyone! Whether you have been to a music festival or not; preparation is key. Here are some tips for all of you first timers and maybe some new tricks for the more seasoned festie.
1. Tickets! Buying your tickets ahead of time is always a good idea. This will ensure you get in and most times you will save some money. A majority of music festivals reward their fans by offering lower prices for advance tickets. It isn't unusual to find higher prices at the door. Lakes Jam has a variety of ticket options and the prices will go up at the door.
2. Accommodation. Camping is usually a popular choice depending on the music festival. Most music festivals offer camping for the people who have weekend passes. If camping is not your strong suit, you might want to look into the area hotels or resorts. If you choose to stay at a hotel or resort, mention the music festival, they might have a package deal. Here is a list of accommodations specific to Lakes Jam.
3. Know the line-up. Attending a music festival is a good way to discover your new favorite artist. Rarely has someone seen every artist live or even heard of them. Do a little research and see as much as you can. Here is a good start on your Lakes Jam research:

- Sunscreen & toiletries. From toilet paper and hygiene products to sunscreen and any important medication, you want to be prepared.

Campgrounds are available for people who purchase a two-day
pass or a VIP ticket. The price for camping is extremely reasonable ($25 per
person) and the campgrounds are only a short distance from the entertainment.
Even more importantly the beer is priced at $5.00 per 16oz glass! If you aren’t
much of a camper you’re in luck! There is plenty of lodging in the area for you
to choose from.
Don’t plan on going hungry either! Lakes Jam is proud to
feature delicious and local cuisine from the following restaurants:
Maucieri’s is an
outstanding Italian Bistro serving salads, pasta, meat and fish. Old world
Italian cooking!
Prairie Bay
specializes in American home cooked flavors.
Zorbaz on the lakes
offers fresh homemade pizza and delicious Mexican cuisine.
Ernie’s on Gull is
known for their top quality food and the freshest ingredients prepared in a way
that brings out the perfect flavor.
